Events: PRSP extends registration for Students’ PR Con; unveils more speakers and musical after-party line-up

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) is giving more students of public relations, communication, marketing, and advertising a chance to be part of the first-ever PRSP Students’ PR Con 2021 with the extension of its registration until November 16, 2021.

A virtual, interactive, and nationwide edition of the Students’ PR Congress, the PRSP Students’ PR Con is an opportunity for students all over the country to learn more about the public relations industry from leading practitioners in the field.

This year’s theme is “Decoding Content: The Journey to PR for Good”, wherein participants will be navigated to the new media landscape and go through the content journey’s three different stages, which are: (1) Capture and Consume, which addresses how we contextualize content we encounter in everyday life; (2) Curate and Converse, which will discuss how to properly curate content from reliable sources and create fruitful conversations responsibly; and (3) Create and Care, which collates learnings from the first two segments by talking about why creating our own PR for Good can push forward ideas into meaningful advocacies and causes.

Speakers Line-up

To discuss these three stages or segments, Students’ PR Con 2021 has assembled thought leaders and renowned professionals from the communications industry. For the Capture and Consume segment, Lynda Jumilla-Abalos of ABS-CBN News Digital will tackle “The News and Information Media” while Peach Natividad of Google, Neil Trinidad of Lazada, and Toff Rada of Tiktok will talk about “Social Media and the Emerging Platforms.”

The Curate and Converse segment will include Vera Files Co-Founders Yvonne Chua of Department of Journalism of the University of the Philippines and Luz Rimban of Ateneo Asian Center for Journalism to discuss “Dissecting Fake News, Trolling and Disinformation”, and Dr. Randy Dellosa, resident psychologist of Pinoy Big Brother and Carlo Ople of PLDT and Unbox for “Being Digitally Ready and Responsible.”

Finally, for the “Create and Care” segment, film director Joey Reyes and Prof. Erik Paolo Capistrano of UP Virata School of Business will dive deep on “Writing Your Story and Choosing Your Journey”; and Caroline Veronilla of World Vision, Anna Meloto-Wilk of Human Nature and Cat Trivino of MindNation will talk about “Forwarding Your Advocacy and Giving Voice for Social Good.”

Star-Studded Virtual After-Party

PRSP is also thrilled to announce that Students’ PR Con participants will be treated to an exclusive virtual musical after-party after the series of informative talks/discussions. The organization has partnered up with Warner Music Philippines and PhilPop Musicfest Foundation to bring together a line-up of up-and-coming artists for a one-of-a-kind musical experience, which includes Jikamarie, Keiko Necesario, Lara Maiguel, Paul Pablo, and Reon. Apart from the fun musical performances, surprise games and prizes also await the attendees at the Students’ PR Con’s after-party celebration.

Students’ PR Con 2021 is also set to kick-off the upcoming Students’ Grand Prix in January 2022. The upcoming Students’ Grand Prix will be PRSP’s first hack sprint edition of the annual student event and competition. More details will be announced during its launch in the upcoming PR Con.

The PRSP Students’ PR Con 2021 will be happening this November 20, 2021 and students are encouraged to take part in the timely issues and conversations to be discussed in the event. PRSP’s Students’ PR Con is free but registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, based on allocation per location (NCR, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao) and per school, so register early and don’t miss out on the biggest virtual event for students this year.
