Events: The British Council opens it Connections Through Culture (CTC) grants call for applications

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — True to its mission to build connections, understanding, and trust between people in the UK and other countries through arts and culture, education, and the English language, the British Council announces that its Connections Through Culture (CTC) grants are now open for applications.

Launched in 2019, Connections Through Culture is a grant programme that supports cultural exchanges and digital collaborations between the UK and Southeast Asia. Grants are offered in the areas of: theatre, dance, visual arts, literature, film, music, architecture, design, and fashion. The deadline for this open call is 5 September 2021 (23.59 UK Time).

The grant is open to all artists, cultural professionals, creative practitioners, hubs, and art collectives based in the UK or in any of the six Southeast Asian countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam).

What are the available grants?

  • Online Collaboration Grants – support digital networking and collaboration between the UK and SEA to develop art and cultural projects together or facilitate skills and knowledge exchange
  • Alumni Grants – support previous CTC UK-SEA grantees to build on the digital collaborations from their completed grant projects.

There are grants amounting to £2,000–£8,000 (around PHP139,000–PHP559,000)  available, and those who wish to learn more about it can join the UK-PH Information session on 20 August, Friday, 16.00-17.00 (PH) / 9.00-10.00 (UK) via Microsoft Teams. This information session will go over the open call and answer any questions you may have about the application process.
