MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Philippine Financial & Inter-Industry Pride (PFIP) proudly hosted the 2024 PFIP Pride Summit — the foremost workplace Pride conference in Asia — last July 30 to 31 at Shangri-La at The Fort, Bonifacio Global City, Manila. 

With the theme “Limitless: Inclusion Beyond Horizons,” the 7th Pride Summit showcased the importance of LGBTQIA+ inclusion in the business sector, underscoring the collective vision for a truly safe and inclusive future that propels LGBTQ+ talents to new areas of excellence. Industry leaders, allies, and advocates from corporate Pride networks and progressive organizations all came together to explore strategies and approaches for fostering inclusive corporate cultures.

Pride Summit key highlights

The summit explored the connections between economic impact and corporate diversity. The keynote speech, “The Economic Case for LGBTQIA+ Inclusion in the Philippines,” outlined the financial benefits of inclusive practices, highlighting how diversity drives innovation and profitability. “Building a Diverse Talent Pipeline Through Inclusive Hiring Practices” discussed countering hiring biases to ensure diversity, while “A Balancing Act: Understanding and Overcoming the Complexities of Intersectionality,” powered by Accenture, provided insights into promoting intersectional programming to avoid losing focus on the unique lived experiences of different minority groups.

Looking into executive leadership and advocacy, the PFIP CEO RoundTable and keynotes by Dominic Arnall, Liz Jacobs, and Carl Cervantes focused on the economic benefits of LGBTQIA+ inclusion and the cultural foundations of allyship in the Philippines. Meanwhile, the Embassy of the Netherlands, a staunch ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, encouraged companies to support equal rights beyond their boardrooms.

Exploring the roles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in a future-ready workforce, “Age Is Nothing But A Number: Best Practices for Engaging a Multigenerational Workforce” offered strategies for integrating diverse age groups for better team dynamics at work. “Leveling The Playing Field: Disability Inclusion in the Workplace” discussed mechanisms and investments to ensure equal opportunities for PWD talents.
