MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Takbo Babae (Woman’s Run) 2025, organized by Gabriela’s Women’s Group, is scheduled to take off on April 13 at the University of the Philippines Academic Oval.

The run aims to bring awareness to the seriousness of the issue of violence against women, help push for legislation amendments like increasing bail for abusers, so victims can leave their trauma safely, and contribute towards legal counsel support for women who turn to Gabriela.

To encourage people to join, Gabriela held a launch event where powerful women like Congresswoman Geraldine Roman, runner Angel Romero, and socialite Tessa Prieto spoke up for other women.

The women’s group also released a powerful short video that shows how running literally helps leave violence behind – even the violence lingering in our heads.

The event is supported by Jayme Headquarters, the new social enterprise ad agency by legendary adwoman Merlee Jayme.

“We’ve collaborated with Gabriela for years, and are committed to stopping violence against women and children in all its forms. What’s unbelievable is that even after victims gather the courage to report the abuse, they aren’t protected by the system at all. They are put in even greater danger than before reporting the case. Fear for their lives and not having the financial and legal support that they need will always discourage them from reporting abuse,” Merlee emphasized.

Gabriela and Jayme Headquarters hope that runners and even walkers join Takbo Babae to gather more awareness, pressure on lawmakers, and financial support to help women leave violence behind.
