From the art of carefully preparing beverages to the splendid artworks that adorn its walls, Starbucks has always desired to give their customers a pleasant experience. Imbued with the spirit of craftsmanship, each Starbucks drink is an expression of expertise, passion, and a penchant for quality.

This very spirit again takes root with the opening of another Starbucks Reserve® branch in North Makati, located at the Assembly Grounds at The Rise. For this, Starbucks collaborates once more with an up-and-coming Filipino artist of exceptional talent: JP Pining.

Sharing the same passion and values, 27-year old Pining, a Fine Arts graduate from the University of Santo Tomas, sets out to make his mark through an incredible artistic style—an eye for bold graphics and eclectic candy colors. Eliciting excitement, youthfulness, and energy, Pining’s works stand out and appeal to a young creative audience.

And for his latest commissioned work, he deftly executes two distinctive murals; one of which, in his own words, “depicts a barista displaying passion in his work.” The said mural also features Pining’s rendition of coffee equipment and the inviting coffee aroma—done in his bold signature style—as well as a depiction of the Makati skyline at night. The other mural is all about friends enjoying being together during sunset hour; of how a sip of coffee makes life more colorful; with the coffee aroma showing how rich the flavor is.

Indeed, Starbucks couldn’t have selected a better artist for the newest Starbucks Reserve® store; considering the young, tech-savvy individuals who go there. And going forward, Starbucks intends to further collaborate with emerging Filipino artists just as it continues to elevate coffee experiences via cutting-edge technologies and innovative products such as ice cream and espresso offerings.

“It challenges us to be different,” says Quito Lopez, Store Development Manager of Starbucks Philippines. “We want to connect with people through the work of local artists like JP, which our customers can’t help but admire. We noticed how our customers enjoy their coffee drinking experience more when seeing art.”
