FDCP unveils 2025 Parangal ng Sining honorees and exciting Q2 plans

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is set to make waves once again as it proudly announces the honorees for the 2025 Parangal ng Sining, an annual celebration that honors the legends and innovators of Philippine cinema. Taking place on April 11, 2025, at Seda Vertis North, Quezon City, the highly anticipated awards night will be hosted by actress Iza Calzado.

Themed Ang Mga Higante ng Kasaysayan ng Ating Pelikula: Tradisyon at Ebolusyon, this year’s Parangal ng Sining highlights the remarkable evolution of Filipino filmmaking, paying tribute to industry giants who have shaped the landscape and pioneers who continue to push its boundaries.

The Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing outstanding contributions to Philippine cinema, will be given to Joseph Ejercito Estrada, Charo Santos-Concio, Laurice Guillen, and Lav Diaz.

Meanwhile, the Annual Achievement Award will honor the contemporary cinematic brilliance of Iti Mapukpukaw (The Missing) by Carl Joseph Papa, Sunshine by Antoinette Jadaone, and Judy Ann Santos.

To celebrate these achievements, the FDCP will hold Tribute Screenings on April 10 and 12 at Ayala Malls Vertis North, featuring classics like Itim (1976), Tanging Yaman (2000), Ang Babaeng Humayo (2016), and Sa Kuko ng Agila (1989).

In the coming months, the FDCP continues to champion Philippine cinema with exciting new projects and collaborations. Among them is the ‘Behind the Reel’ YouTube series, which premieres on April 11, featuring candid conversations with filmmakers, actors, writers, and producers. Additionally, film festivals such as the Curation of World Cinema, I-nanimate: Animation Film Festival, and Pamanang Pelikula will showcase the rich diversity of storytelling from the Philippines and beyond.

For budding filmmakers, workshops like the Sine Kabataan Pitching Lab, Indie Siyensiya Workshop, and Meisner Acting Crash Course offer invaluable hands-on training and mentorship. Plus, the FDCP’s Student Film Assistance Program will continue to support young creatives with grants and masterclasses.

The Philippine Film Industry Roadmap, to be unveiled in July, will set the course for sustainable growth, backed by strategic collaborations with international partners and participation in global film festivals like Cannes and Annecy.
