Separately, a decision is expected next week on Globe Telecom’s estimated $40 million Media Agency of Record (AOR) pitch, between Mindshare, Zenith Optimedia and Universal McCann. Presentations to Globe Telecom were done at the end January.
Universal McCann, which has held the majority of Globe business since the launch in 1998 (those pre-cellphone days that seem a lifetime ago), has survived several 3-year-reviews. During the last one in 2005, UM was awarded the entire account without a pitch, including business that had previously been with heavyweights Starcom and PHD.
Globe is the Philippines’ second-largest telecom company. In 2008, it landed the coveted exclusive partnership with Apple for iPhone 3G.
