MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Ika-34 GAWAD CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video, or Gawad Alternatibo continues to showcase this year’s finalists of various films at the newly launched CCP Arthouse Cinema or Tanghalang Manuel Conde (TMC) this August 6 to 14.

This year’s theme, “GIYA – Tahakin at panoorin ang mga pelikulang giya ng ating panahon,” showcases the ability of films to act as a guide for people as they navigate through life changes. The theme emphasizes that “Memory and history have blind spots. The ineffable escapes and defies language. But the film, where shadows lurk and tease darkness and light, will provide us the lens to sift through contradictions, will mark the limits of chaos, and serve as a beacon of a nation’s becoming.”
