Aside from its Clio Awards Statues, TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno (TBWA\SMP) is also bringing home two trophies from the 2018 Clio Music which includes a Gold for “Disgusting Stories” for Bahay Tuluyan Philippines.

The “Disgusting Stories” video that was once deemed controversial by Facebook has now been winning awards, now with a Gold under the Use of Music category.

Set to a haunting rendition of Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn”, the video featured actual illustrations by abused children from the research of sociologies Dr. Elspeth McInnes of University of South Australia. The video was taken down by Facebook because it believed it violated their community standard. After over a million people from 16 countries made a call to reinstate the video, Facebook finally restored the video. “Disgusting Stories” went on to win a Cannes Gold Lion and a Grand Prix in AD STARS.

The agency also won a Bronze Statue under the Use of Music category for “Anak” for local fashion brand Bench.

As a salute to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), TBWA\SMP and Bench came out with a crowdsourcing campaign featuring the children of these workers. The result is a stitched video of these millennial children singing “Anak”, a Filipino classic, in different local and international languages.

The Grand Clio winners will be revealed on October 3 in New York City.
