AD STARS 2019: Asia Dominates AD STARS Finalists Professional Category; Thailand with Most Finalists in the Running

BUSAN, Korea — More than 1,800 works made it to the finalist of this year’s Ad Stars with 211 coming from Thailand. Ogilvy Group Thailand secures 72 works in the finalist mostly in the Print and Outdoor categories including ‘Making Merit or Creating Hurt‘ for Priest Hospital, ‘Kouprey,’ ‘Boar,’ and ‘Deer‘ for Freeland Foundation.

A total of 854 finalists from Asia are in the running for the awards including 121 works from the Republic Of Korea; 88 works from Hong Kong; another 88 from India; 74 finalists from China, and 64 finalists from the Philippines.

Japan comes in second to Thailand with 180 entries making it to the shortlist from 1-10 Inc., ADK, AKQA Tokyo, amana inc., AOI Pro., Beacon/Leo Burnett Tokyo, c.Ray Corporation, Cutters Studios, CyberAgent Inc., Dentsu, ENJIN INC., Google, Grey Tokyo, HAKUHODO Inc., kakezan.inc, PEAK, Quaras.Inc, Que, ROBOT COMMUNICATIONS INC., SIX inc., Soda! More than a hundred works from Brazil also made it to the shortlist including Artplan Sao Paulo’s ‘Beatbox Catalogue‘ for Etna Home & Decor; Leo Burnett Tailor Made’s ‘The Foolitzer Prizes‘ for E-Farsas; and Madre Mia Filmes’ ‘I Am Anne‘ for ForceField.

United States has 32 works in the finalist: BBDO Atlanta’s ‘Chicken Talk TV Campaign,’ for Sanderson Farms; and ‘Stop Traffick, for Street Grace;’ Casanova // McCann’s ‘Second Chances,’ for DONATE LIFE CALIFORNIA; DM9Rio’s ‘Donate your View,’ for Obra do Berco; and FCB New York’s ‘The Whopper Detour,’ for Burger King; ‘One Leaves,’ for FDA, The Real Cost, and ‘LG B&Binge,’ for LG.

A total of 1,811 works have made it as finalists from 20,645 entries through a rigorous screening by 220 judges from 56 countries.
