AD STARS 2019: Shortlisted Asian Countries, Campaigns, and Agencies in This Year’s AD STARS’ Categories

BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA – With the opening of AD STARS 2019 today, 22 August 2019,  comes the full list of shortlisted entries. From creative professionals, there are 1,652 shortlisted from all over the world.

20 countries in Asia got into the shortlist for AD STARS 2019: Bangladesh (3), China (74), Hong Kong (89), India (89), Indonesia (9), Japan (181), Jordan (1), Kazakhstan (15), Korea (122), Kuwait (2), Malaysia (43), Nepal (1), Pakistan (38), Philippines (65), Saudi Arabia (1), Singapore (50), Sri Lanka (6), Taiwan (35), Thailand (212), United Arab Emirates (57), Uzbekistan (1), and Vietnam (9) all amounting to 1,014 shortlisted entries from Asia. 

From these countries, 134 Asian Agencies are finalists.

While there are numerous Asian campaigns that got into the shortlist, here are some that bagged multiple spots in each category of the AD STARS Awards:

Film: From Japan, Cutters Studio’s BMW Journey of Light (Episode 1 and 2) for UM Studios bagged the agency 13 spots in the Film category

Print: From Hong Kong, Cheil Worldwide Hong Kong’s Lose Yourself in a Book for Penguin Random House North Asia bagged them 11 spots in the Print category.

Outdoor: From India, DDB Mudra Pvt. Ltd.’s Hashtags Don’t Heal (Baby, Old Man, Young Man) for Khalsa Aid got them 15 spots in the Outdoor category.

Radio & Audio: From India, Cheil Worldwide India’s Bixby Voice Forever for Samsung Electronics bagged 2 spots in the Radio & Audio category.

Design: From Thailand, Ogilvy Group Thailand’s Dragon, Spaceship, and Empire States for DKSH Limited got them 7 spots in the Design category.

Mobile: From Hong Kong, Cheil Worldwide Hong Kong’s Fatal Recognition for The Hong Kong Stroke Association got 4 spots in the Mobile category.

Interactive: From India, Dentsu Webchutney’s Infant CPR for Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre bagged 4 spots in the Interactive category. 

Data Insights: From Taiwan, J. Walter Thompson Taipei’s campaign for TAIPEI BLOOD CENTER entitled BLOOD BEACON got them 2 spots in the Data Insights category.

Social & Influencer: From the Philippines, Ace Saatchi & Saatchi Manila’s Project Unfriend for the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines got 2 spots in the Social & Influencer category.

PR: From India, DDB Mudra Pvt. Ltd.’s Project Free Period for Johnson & Johnson got 3 spots in the PR category. 

Promotion: From Singapore, MullenLowe Singapore’s Life Melodies (Auld Lang Syne, Happy Birthday, Wedding March) for Sivantos Pte Ltd bagged 5 spots in the Promotion category. 

Direct: From the United Arab Emirates, Impact BBDO’s Zero Tolerance for 28 Too Many got 2 spots in the Direct category. 

Media: From the Philippines, TBWA SANTIAGO MANGADA PUNO’s This is a Tree for Pacific Paint (Boysen) Philippines Inc. bagged 2 spots in the Media category. 

Integrated: From Kazakhstan, Combination LLP (Kombinat)’s Forte Femme for ForteBank got into the Integrated category.

Innovation: From Thailand, BBDO Bangkok’s 7:1 Furniture Collection for Homepro bagged 2 spots in the Innovation category.

Diverse Insights: From Pakistan, BBDO Pakistan’s Truck Art Childfinder for Berger Paints got into the Diverse Insights category.

Place Brand: From China, AKQA’s Nike Shanghai Never Done Shop for Nike Greater China got into the Place Brand Category.
