BUSAN – AD STARS and El Sol Festival have embarked on an exciting partnership to exchange knowledge and closely cooperate with the goal of building the success and popularity of both festivals.
To kick off the partnership, earlier this month AD STARS Co-Chairperson Euija Lee attended the 31st El Sol Festival, which takes place every year in Spain.
In August, AD STARS will welcome Jordi Palomar, President of El Sol Festival and Chairman of JWT Group in Spain, who will fly to Busan, South Korea.
“El Sol Festival has a lot in common with AD STARS. We are both committed to nurturing our local advertising industries in Spain and Korea, but as global festivals we are also eager to connect with advertising executives in other regions of the world. AD STARS already welcomes entries from Spain, Portugal and Latin America, and we hope our partnership with El Sol Festival will help us to attract more entries from these markets,” says Lee.
El Sol Festival has been running since 1986, when the Spanish Association of Advertising Communication Agencies (AEACP) decided to create an event designed to boost the creativity of Spanish advertising.
In 2003, the festival decided to invite all Spanish and Portuguese-speaking markets to take part in its annual celebration of creativity, including the Spanish-speaking market in the United States.
For 25 years, El Sol Festival took place in the sun-soaked coastal town of San Sebastian, but in 2012 it moved to its new home in Bilbao – a mecca for designers and creators. Today, the festival attracts over 2,500 entries, with over 1,500 people attending.
Whereas El Sol Festival is open to all Spanish and Portuguese-speaking markets, AD STARS attracts almost 18,000 entries from 67 countries.
The 9th AD STARS festival will take place on 25th to 27th August in Busan, South Korea.
