BANGKOK – Three inspirational days of Speaker Sessions, Workshops and Award Presentations kick off today at ADFEST 2014, which concludes this Saturday, March 8.

‘Co-Create the Future’

The theme of ADFEST 2014, ‘Co-Create the Future’, will examine the power of collaboration in a world where consumers can now define and influence the value of brands, products and services.
How do you define your role in this brave new world? How do you tap into consumer ideas and generate real value for brands? What are the benefits, and what are the risks?

“‘Co-Create the Future’ is all about forging new connections and partnerships, because our future depends on greater collaboration within and beyond the advertising industry. We hope this year’s festival sparks many co-creations and collaborations to come,” says Jimmy Lam, President of ADFEST.

The ADFEST 2014 animation was created by Kantana Animation Studios (Bangkok) and Nylon Studios (Sydney/New York), while this year’s logo was designed by Santosh Padhi of Taproot India.

The 2014 Lotus Awards

This year, 56 jury members from 18 cities were tasked with judging the 2014 Lotus Awards with Tor Myhren, World Chief Creative Officer at Grey and President of Grey New York, as Grand Jury President.

ADFEST received 3,253 entries from 41 cities to this year’s competition. The top five cities by number of entries are Tokyo, Mumbai, Bangkok, Singapore and Manila.

There are 17 categories in the 2014 Lotus Awards: Film Lotus, Radio Lotus, Press Lotus, Outdoor Lotus, Interactive Lotus, Mobile Lotus, Direct Lotus, Promo Lotus, Design Lotus, Print Craft Lotus, Film Craft Lotus, New Director Lotus, Effective Lotus, Media Lotus, Integrated Lotus, INNOVA Lotus and Lotus Roots.

Young Lotus Workshop

Twenty-six young creatives from 13 cities participated in the 10th Young Lotus Creative Workshop, hosted by BBDO Asia Pacific with the theme #LiveMoreForBetterIdeas.

Mentors include Andy Wilson, Head of Strategy, Asia at BBDO and Proximity Singapore; Chris Thomas, Chairman and CEO of BBDO Asia, Middle East and Africa, and Chairman of Proximity Worldwide; David Guerrero, Creative Chairman of BBDO Guerrero and Proximity Philippines; Ronald Ng, Chief Creative Officer at BBDO and Proximity Singapore; Suthisak Sucharittanonta, Chairman & Chief Creative Officer at BBDO and Proximity Thailand.

The teams were tasked with turning around a creative brief in just 24 hours, and 5 of the best Young Lotus finalist teams will take the stage this Saturday 8th March, 11:30am at the ‘Young Lotus 2014’ session, chaired by Chris Thomas, Chairman and CEO of BBDO Asia, Middle East and Africa, and Chairman of Proximity Worldwide. Delegates will have the chance to vote for their favorite team to determine the Popular Vote Winner, who will be revealed at the Award Presentation that night.

“What’s exciting about this brief is that it requires non-conventional solutions. Perhaps it’s a utility, an app or a wearable piece of technology that helps you monitor your work/life balance. Or perhaps it’s a new way of doing creative work,” says Thomas.
