Agencies in Asia Pacific region land 95 Finalists in The One Club for Creativity’s ADC 97th Annual Awards

NEW YORK  — Agencies in eight Asia Pacific countries secured 95 finalists spots for the ADC 97th Annual Awards.  The finalists were announced today by The One Club for Creativity, the world’s foremost non-profit organization celebrating creative excellence in advertising and design.

Japan was the top country in the region with 51 finalists, led by Dentsu Tokyo with 23 finalists for 15 clients. They include four finalists spots for East Japan Railway Company “Slow Train, SlowLife – Get Back, Tohoku”.  Other Japanese finalists include work from Yahoo JapanShiseidoTess Co., SIXINCSHAand others.

China has 25 finalists, led by TBWA\Shanghai with six.  They include three each for BAO BEI HUI JA – NGO for Missing Children “A Thread of Hope” and Penguin Books “Penguin Frizen Storybook”.  China Academy of Art, Hangzhou has three finalists, two for Power Station of Art Shanghai, Power Station of Design Shanghai “Henryk Tomaszewski“ and one for Toppan Printing Co.,Ltd. “FUSION (5 Posters)”.

CHE Proximity landed all nine of Australia’s finalists, including three for Cochlear “The Hearing Test in Disguise”, two each for Swann Insurance “Inconvenience Stores”, Velocity Frequent Flyer “The Billion Point Giveaway” and LEGO Australia “Making the List”.

McCann Worldgroup India, Mumbai and McCann Health, Delhi, have three of India’s five finalists for their work “The Immunity Charm” on behalf of the Ministry of Public Health, Afghanistan.  TBWA India and Black Swan Life Communications, both in Mumbai, have one finalist each.

Other finalists spots in the region include two for McCann Worldgroup Bangkok and one each for Ahn Graphics in Seoul, Ogilvy & Mather Group HK in Hong Kong and Bito with Taipei City Government in Taiwan.

Globally, leaders in the ADC 97th Annual Awards finalists count are BBDO New York with 31, Dentsu Tokyo with 23 and Hamburg, Germany’s Jung von Matt with 20.

This year’s show has 514 finalists representing 34 countries.  The US has the most finalists, followed by Japan with 51, Germany with 45, Canada with 26, the UK and China with 25 each, and France with 21.  

The One Club for Creativity awards shows each have their distinct focus.  The ADC Annual Awards maintains its historical concentration as the champion for craft, design and innovation, while The One Show focuses on creativity of ideas and quality of execution.

This year’s winners will be announced at the ADC 97th Annual Awards Ceremony on May 7, 2018, 6:00-11:00 pm at Industria in New York’s Meatpacking District.
