SINGAPORE – Ogilvy & Mather has expanded the role of Andrew Thomas, President of Ogilvy Public Relations for Southeast Asia & India, to be the new Head of Social@Ogilvy in Asia Pacific.
He replaces Fergus Hay, the Regional Managing Director for Social@Ogilvy APAC, who was appointed in 2014. The Ogilvy veteran stepped into a regional leadership position for the network based in Singapore for Unilever.
Hay will report directly to Thomas Crampton, Global Managing Director Social@Ogilvy and Kent Wertime, Chief Operating Officer – Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific.
“Not many remember that Social@Ogilvy started with Thomas Crampton and a few interns only 4 short years ago. Today it’s a global force with hundreds of talented individuals and more than 300 specialists in Asia Pacific alone. To have the opportunity to shape the future of such a phenomenal emerging business in our network, and at such an exciting time in its growth story, is an opportunity you just can’t say no to,” Thomas said.
“Social media and content now require leaders with a broad portfolio of experience, adaptive nature and instinctive understanding of the publisher mindset,” said Crampton, “Andrew has proven his ability to grow new businesses within O&M and, in a previous career, did the same in publishing.”
Commenting on Hay’s new position, Wertime said, “Fergus has done a tremendous job looking after the Social@Ogilvy business in the region over the last year. Unilever is an important partner for us around the world, so we’re in good hands with Fergus and we’re looking forward to seeing him bring the same amount of energy, and strategic thinking to our relationship for this business.”
