SINGAPORE – After a three year stint as Chief Creative Officer for Asia-Pacific at SapientNitro, Andy Greenaway is all set to become Executive Creative Director at Dentsu Singapore.
Prior to joining SapientNitro, Greenaway spent nine years as regional creative director for Saatchi & Saatchi in the Asia-Pacific. Before that, he served as executive creative director of Singapore’s OgilvyOne, the same position he held in Hong Kong, and eventually returned to Singapore to be ECD of Ogilvy Advertising.
Originally intending to be an art director, Greenaway credits his teacher, Alan Paige, for making advertising exciting for him in college. Greenaway also cites his first creative director, Chris Jones; his first big boss, Drayton Bird; recent creative partner Bruce Matchett; and his first regional creative director, Neil French, as his mentors.
Matchett also recently departed SapientNitro for Sydney-based agency Banjo.
Speaking at last week’s adobo-Tambuli Asia-Pacific Conference 2016, Greenaway shared some of the insights he has gained in his long career in advertising. Among these insights is his belief that advertisers need to start looking at psychology and embracing some of its principles when creating campaigns.
At Dentsu Singapore, Greenaway will report to Ted Lim, Dentsu Asia-Pacific creative head.
