ROME – The winners of the revered Festival of Media Global Awards 2016 have been revealed, with a quarter of the all the gold, silver and bronze trophies won by agencies in Asia.

European-based agencies gained the most wins in the global competition, rewarded by 30 trophies, followed by Asia on 18 wins, ahead of North America on 15, and with South America and MENA trailing behind with six and three respectively. India leads the Asia winners, with six trophy wins (three of which are gold), followed by Malaysia on four wins, three each for Australia and China, and one for each of Philippines and Taiwan.

The big winner in the Asia haul was MediaCom India, with its campaign ‘Ariel: Removing the stains of social inequality’, appealing that men break the social norm to ‘share the load’ with household chores. It succeeded in winning golds in the hugely competitive Best Communications Strategy, as well as Best Engagement Strategy and Best Launch Campaign categories, and bronze for The Effectiveness Award, which prioritises rewarding the business results achieved by a media campaign. MediaCom celebrated five wins in total, reflecting earlier success at the Festival of Media Asia Awards in March, when they were awarded three wins for its Ariel campaign.
