Axiata acquires Komli Media’s SEA ops for $11.25M

MALAYSIA – Telecommunication giant Axiata Group has bought the Southeast Asian operations of digital ad agency Komli Media for $11.25 million.

In a statement on Bursa Malaysia, the group said the its subsidiary Adknowledge will oversee the acquisition, which will include Komli Media’s operations in seven markets – Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

Adknowledge Asia Pacific is an 80% subsidiary of Axiata Digital Advertising, which is a wholly owned by Axiata Digital Services, which in turn is a wholly owned subsidiary of Axiata Group Bhd.

Axiata said that the deal would allow them to “skip past the formative stage of its business plan and scale up its presence and operations in the Southeast Asian region.” It also recognized Komli as a strategic fit across digital advertising verticals such as social, video, display and mobile.

“It also brings in an experienced and deployed talent base of more than 100 sales, ad-ops and other personnel with strong reputation in the region with deeply entrenched relationships with premium publishers and advertisers.
