SINGAPORE – A free mobile call app nanu, which aims to revolutionize the telecoms industry by offering free quality calls across the globe has launched with brand strategy and brand identity work created by BBH Asia Pacific.

nanu is a world first completely free mobile call app operating in all networks including 2G, allowing it to provide quality calls for everyone, everywhere in the world.

BBH today unfolds brand work for nanu as it sets off on a mission to end phone bills and give everyone around the world the right to make free phone calls.

The nanu brand work, devised by BBH Asia Pacific includes brand strategy, brand identity development, application design, website development, online banners and PR in partnership with PRecious Communications.

Unlike conventional voice apps such as Skype and Viber that only work in high bandwidth 3G/4G/Wifi environments, nanu can be used on any network including 2G thus allowing it to provide quality calls where other apps cannot. As the majority of the world’s mobile phones still use 2G, this means billions of people in rural areas and developing markets will have access to free calls for the first time.

nanu is also unlike any conventional voice app and provides all calls completely free by inserting an unintrusive short advertisment that plays over the ringtone while waiting for call pick up. The revenue from the advertisement allows nanu to subsidize the cost of the call.

Said Bassam Abdel-Rahman, Business Director, BBH Asia Pacific: “nanu is an extraordinary little app with a very big mission. It’s not just another shiny new app with the usual boring communications around it. nanu will change the way the world communicates. Our job was to bring nanu to you at its best: download, talk for free, spread the app – and bring the distinctive brand to life across all touch points.

Said Martin Nygate, CEO and founder of nanu: “Together with BBH we wanted to create an identity for nanu that doesn’t just look good but lives and breathes our mission of giving the world free calls. We are energetic, young at heart and smart, just like the app.”
