Singapore – Digitas, the Connected Marketing Agency and part of the Publicis Groupe, is making huge steps this Women’s Month and International Women’s Day with efforts that will go beyond the dates and move the agency closer to diversity and inclusion day by day. It starts with the celebration of their Managing Director, Rika Sharma, as she joins an all-female team of leaders from prominent brands such as Diageo, Uber, Standard Chartered Bank, Nomura, Lego, SAP, Sage in mentoring young females at the Inclusion Mentoring Walk. The event brings together women leaders from current managerial roles, and up and coming ones from the next generation, keeping to the 2019 Year of the Women theme, #BalanceForBetter.
While more women are taking on managerial roles, according to the 2018 Hays Diversity & Inclusion Asia Report, there remains a need for organizational support around the diversity and inclusion agenda. The need is noted by the fact that a third of report contributors (32%) believe that colleagues of equal ability have equal access to career opportunities in their organization.
Contributing in their own way, Digitas celebrates diversity and inclusion, by championing not just with their MD on one day of the year but with all their staff and partners everyday. Diversity after all, isn’t just central to digital marketing but across all industries, as we try to bring much needed attention to this very important topic, with the ambition of driving a powerful change.
For International Women’s Day (IWD), Digitas wants to celebrate their amazing women and also highlight some of the things that define them as a business. Issues that demonstrate a recognition of the strength that comes from diversity.
1. Leadership and Mentorship
- 67% of our Singapore leadership team positions are held by women
- This includes not only Singapore’s Managing DIrector but also the Digitas Head of Finance, Head of Talent, Client Service Directors to name a few.
- Involvement in various mentorship events for women, such as today’s Inclusion Mentoring Walk (on 8 March)
2. Women Benefits
- 6 days additional parental leave in addition to the 21 days of holiday, regardless of status
- 4 months fully paid maternity leave with the possibility to extend to 6 months
- Flexi working arrangements for working moms
- On premise, a mother’s room with 2 feeding stations
Beyond the singular event of IWD, Digitas strives to empower both women and men to advocate for gender equity in the workplace and in the world, to support women’s success and advancement.
