STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – Recognizing the drastic effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic, fashion giant H&M has decided to take on a mission to help hospitals around the globe in acquiring protective equipment. The news, published on the H&M Group website, states that they are realigning their supply chains to find possible solutions in the shortage of personal protective equipment for healthcare workers.
The group will be utilizing its widespread purchasing operations and logistics capabilities, and hopes to deliver as soon as possible. H&M says their entire supply chain, which includes teams from around the world, are now collectively supporting the brand’s efforts.
This decision was done right after H&M CEO Helena Helmersson reached out to the EU to know where the group can help. On the website, H&M Group’s Sustainability Head Anna Gedda shared:
“The coronavirus is dramatically affecting each and every one of us, and H&M Group is, like many other organizations, trying our best to help in this extraordinary situation. We see this is as a first step in our efforts to support in any way we can. We are all in this together, and have to approach this as collectively as possible.”
