NEW YORK – The 23rd Annual Webby Awards are almost upon us, and one of the finalists in the Audience Choice category is none other than online film, “Smells Like a Girl, for iconic Philippine lifestyle brand Bench. Currently, the film stands at second place with 23% of the votes, and fans from all over the world are invited to let their voices be heard by voting for the film here.

Directed by Chris Martinez and starring Marco Gumabao, “Smells Like a Girl” is a touching story of acceptance between a closeted son and his traditionally macho father. Originally released in February last year, the film quickly went viral, achieving 3 million hits in 24 hours.

“Smells Like a Girl” is the latest addition to Bench’s successful slate of ongoing digital initiatives with advertising agency TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno, a partnership that also produced last year’s Webby Award-winning, “Feels” featuring Mikey Bustos.

“It is a feel-good film,” says Martinez, of the film’s theme of LGBT acceptance. “Maybe that’s also the reason why a lot of viewers tagged a lot of people and shared the video among their families and friends…It’s heart-tugging, and it’s a feeling you want people close to you to experience too.”

Voting for the 23rd annual Webbys Audience Choice Award is open until April 18th.
