SHENZHEN – With a height of 600 meters, Ping An Finance Centre (PAFC) is one of the tallest buildings in China and in the world. To make use of the power of the wind surrounding the towering skyscraper, Saatchi & Saatchi South China thought of coming up with a unique wind installation for PAFC.
On its opening day, a ‘Concert of the Wind,’ the first interactive musical wind installation was orchestrated by the agency and Nexus Interactive Arts, the world-renowned production company and animation studio from the UK. Combining technology, art and commercial construction, the installation produces pure sounds of nature by collecting end from one end of the installation and travelling to through the wind-collection steel tubes.
“In a market where chest-beating is the norm, we are particularly thankful to the brave and visionary client PAFC for loving the idea of harvesting the wind on top of one of the tallest buildings in China. We are thrilled to bring inspiring yet romantic music from the wind to every Shenzhen resident. In the end it’s not how tall you are that matters, it’s how inspirational the experience you brought to the people that counts,” said Carol Lam, Chief Creative Officer & Managing Partner, Saatchi & Saatchi South China.
Local artist Wang Cong and famous European lighting art director, who directed the closing ceremony of Athens Olympics, Etienne Schwarcz helped to create outstanding music out of the wind sounds.
