Cannes Lions 2019 has released shortlists for five categories today, 16 June 2019. The categories include the Design Lions and Print & Publishing Lions under the Communication track, the Health & Wellness Lions and Pharma Lions under the Health Track, and the Film Craft Lions under the Craft track.
Communication: Design Lions
Among those in the shortlist came from 9 countries in Asia: United Arab Emirates, Russia, Japan, South Korea, India, Pakistan, Turkey, South Korea, China, and Thailand.
Among those 9 countries, 15 agencies got in: TBWA\Istanbul (1), Impact BBDO Dubai (2), Shuka Design Moscow (1), Bootleg Moscow (1), Cheil Worldwide Seoul (1) TBWA\India Mumbai (2), BBDO Pakistan Lahore (2), TBWA\HAKUHODO Inc. Tokyo (1), Havas Istanbul (1), Innocean Worldwide Seoul (1), The Nine Shanghai (1), Bushe Piter (1), 4129GREY Istanbul (1), BBDO Bangkok (1), and Dentsu Inc. Tokyo (5) with 22 entries all in all.
Dentsu Inc. Tokyo gets into the shortlist with five entries in total. One of them is the “72POSTERS for school teams participating in the high school sumo tournament – pro”

Communication: Print & Publishing Lions
Five countries in Asia got into the Print & Publishing Lions shortlist: Hongkong, India, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and Russia.
Among those five countries are 11 agencies: Cheil Worldwide Hongkong (3), McCann India Mumbai (2), Ogilvy Group Thailand Bangkok (3), Ogilvy Hongkong (3), Wunderman Thompson Dubai (1), Ogilvy Group Thailand (1), DDB Mudra Mumbai (1), Impact BBDO Dubai (3), TBWA\India Mumbai (2), TBWA\RAAD Dubai (1), and Possible Moscow (1) amounting to 21 entries.

For the Health & Wellness category, six countries from Asia get into the shortlist: Israel, Chinese Taipei, China, India, United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan.
Among those six countries are seven agencies: ACW Grey Tel Aviv (1), Ogilvy Taipei City (1), Cheil Pengtai Beijing (2), TBWA\India Mumbai (2), BBDO Pakistan Lahore (1), Impact BBDO Dubai (7), and McCann Tel Aviv (10) amounting to 24 entries total.
McCann Tel Aviv got 10 spots with their “Thisables”

For the Pharma Lions, China gets into the shortlist with four entries from McCann Health Shanghai.

Craft: Film Craft Lions
Asian countries included in the Film Craft Lions category are Saudi Arabia, India, and Japan. The agencies include the Wunderman Thompson Riyadh (1), Wunderman Thompson Mumbai (1), Dentsu Inc. Tokyo (1), Shiseido (1), and Cherry Tokyo (1) with one entry from each of them. Japan dominates the ranking by having three agencies under the country in this category.
