MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Young Lions Competition in the much-anticipated Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is one that most young creatives only dream of joining, but for Lance Francisco and Zachary Lim of J. Walter Thompson Manila, this dream has turned into reality.
Currently at France for the competition, the pair was picked out from an agency-wide pitch held way back in October 2018. The brief was to create a digital campaign targeting the current users of the Grab Mobile App and raise brand awareness and sales for GrabFood.
After 24 hours of conceptualizing, Lance and Zach came up with “Food Pins”, integrating the offerings of GrabFood into the number one thing users look at when using the app: the Grab map leading to their destination.
The winning team was chosen by the Internet Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP), to fly all the way to Cannes to represent the best of young Philippine creativity.
When we asked them how they felt about the competition, Lance shared, “I’m nervous and excited. Nervous to compete and excited to represent the Philippines and JWT.”
Zach, on the other hand, told adobo magazine that there are nights that he can’t sleep because he’s thinking about going to Cannes. “[I’m] Really excited and overwhelmed by it. Sometimes I snuggle into bed and then think ‘oh! I’m going to Cannes! Then I don’t sleep the rest of the night.”
