KUALA LUMPUR – Dentsu Aegis Network Malaysia today announces the appointment of Chinar Joshi as the Managing Director of Vizeum Malaysia, succeeding Wong Siew Wai who has moved on to pursue other opportunities.

Joshi joined Vizeum last year as General Manager, Strategy. Since then, he has been instrumental in streamlining the agency’s operations and driving more integrated marketing solutions for Vizeum’s clients, as well as overseeing strategic deliverables across the network.

“Recent RECMA report ranked Vizeum as the world’s number one network for new business growth, with over USD1 billion of new business wins recorded globally in 2017. This fantastic achievement is a testament of our product and quality of service and solution we bring to the table. I am excited to leverage our global success and products for the Malaysian market, thus driving more commercial initiatives and new revenue streams for the firm. More importantly, backed by a strong team and a great product we are determined to ensure that the agency delivers smart and insightful business solutions to our clients. We think of ourselves as a business solution partner and not just a media agency, which allows us to cater to companies with a business model that’s built for the digital economy,” Joshi said.

“It’s been quite a rewarding experience and I’m grateful for this opportunity to step up,” he shared.

Joshi has been in Malaysia for 7 years. Prior to Vizeum, he was at IPG Mediabrands Malaysia, first with Universal McCann in a Strategy & Planning role, and subsequently promoted to General Manager to lead IPG’s media agency BPN. During his stint at IPG, Joshi was part of the team that had won three consecutive Agency of the Year titles at the Malaysian Media Awards, while managing high-billings portfolios such as Johnson & Johnson, CIMB, U-Mobile and Suntory & Cerebos.

Joshi’s industry experience also includes insights gained from his time in global creative shops such as Wieden+Kennedy and Ogilvy & Mather in home country, India.

He reports to Nicky Lim, CEO, Dentsu Aegis Network Malaysia.

Commenting on the appointment, Lim said, “Vizeum has achieved tremendous growth over the last decade, but with our industry rapidly changing in this fourth industrial revolution, there’s just so much more that an agency as dynamic and agile as Vizeum can take on for greater success under a new age leadership. Joshi possesses qualities of an ambitious and forward-thinking leader, and for that, we’re entrusting him with this vital task of bringing Vizeum to the next level.”

Duncan Pointer, CEO, Vizeum Asia Pacific, added, “As a network, we continue to evolve our talent, strengthening our leadership behind Vizeum’s vision of accelerating our clients’ business growth. Malaysia has been one of the key contributors to the region’s growth, and with Chinar at the helm, I look forward to seeing more outstanding work from Malaysia. I’d also like to thank Siew Wai for everything he has done for Vizeum Malaysia over the last 10 years.”

The appointment is effective April 2018.
