MALAYSIA – Cohn & Wolfe, a leading brand communications agency, today announced the promotion of Jonathan Tan to Associate Managing Director of its Malaysia office. In his new role, Tan will be responsible for the overall performance and growth of Malaysia’s operations including client satisfaction, new business and professional development. Tan will report to Adrian Lee, Group Managing Director for Cohn & Wolfe Southeast Asia.
“To be a part of the Cohn & Wolfe journey in Malaysia since day one has been a tremendous privilege and an incredible adventure,” said Tan. “We have a dynamic team brimming with passion that delivers fresh, innovative and impactful brand-building campaigns of the highest standard. Our success today has been a collective effort of teammates both current and former. I look forward to scaling greater heights with this amazing team.”
Since joining the agency in 2010, Tan has helped Cohn & Wolfe Malaysia become one of the best performing offices in the Asia-Pacific region, posting consistent year-on-year double-digit revenue growth and a client retention rate of over 90 percent. The office has amassed an impressive client portfolio, providing integrated services for brands such as BMW, Colgate-Palmolive, Tetra Pak, 3M, AkzoNobel Dulux, and Nestle Ice Cream. Prior to joining Cohn & Wolfe, Tan led the Technology and Consumer Practices at Fleishman-Hillard Kuala Lumpur.
“Jonathan was the first person we turned to when we started our operations in Malaysia and it’s one of the best decisions we’ve ever made,” said Lee. “Working within a challenging economic environment, he’s managed to successfully grow the Malaysia office from a three-man team into one of most well- respected brand consultancies in Malaysia.”
To help drive Cohn & Wolfe’s aggressive growth strategy for the Malaysian market and deepen its expertise across industries, the agency also appointed Vanitha Mani Thevaratnam as Account Director and promoted Kiranjeet Kaur and Crystalbelle Lau to Associate Account Director and Senior Consultant, respectively. Thevaratnam brings eight years of integrated marketing communications and event management experience, including consumer marketing roles at Weber Shandwick and Dentsu Aegis Network Malaysia. Kaur and Lau have played significant roles in retaining key clients and leading innovative campaigns that have contributed to the region’s tremendous success.
