SINGAPORE – Costa Coffee is on a mission to save the people of Singapore from counterfeit handcrafted coffee. To help coffee lovers identify and experience coffee that is truly handcrafted, Costa has engaged the services of the ‘Counterfeit Coffee Investigators’ (CCI), a two-man task force trained to identify perfectly handcrafted coffee. As part of the awareness drive, Costa has also set up a Whatsapp hotline at +65 9840 2961 to allow members of the public to report their counterfeit handcrafted coffee experiences.

The Counterfeit Coffee Investigators will be reaching out to the public at known coffee hot spots around Singapore over the next two weeks. They will be distributing educational materials to help consumers identify genuine handcrafted coffee, along with an opportunity for consumers to discover the taste of perfectly handcrafted coffee themselves – by redeeming a complimentary Latte or Flat White at any Costa store.

“With new cafés popping up all over the island, coffee is more easily accessible than ever. The challenge for consumers now is to ensure that the cup of coffee they’re enjoying is genuinely handcrafted, and not an imitation. At Costa Coffee, we make each cup of coffee by hand, and our baristas take great pride in ensuring that every cup is perfect. We launched this campaign because we felt it was our public duty to give coffee lovers the opportunity to learn how a genuinely handcrafted cup of coffee should be made, and of course, allow them to experience it for themselves at a Costa store,” says Cindy Poh, Costa Coffee Regional Marketing Manager SEA and India.

In addition to the CCI’s on-ground efforts, coffee drinkers can also report their less-than-perfect cups of coffee by taking a photo and sending it to the 24hrs CCI Whatsapp hotline at +65 9840 2961 for the chance to redeem a complimentary Costa Coffee, handcrafted as it should be.
