MANILA, PHILIPPINES – After a day of blockbuster events and an evening of drinks, parties and crazy fun, the creative community rises up another day for day 2 of 4As Creativefest 2019 packed with more riveting topics.

The day started off with a live (on Google Hangouts straight from New York City) keynote presentation by Google Design Lead, Carla Echevarria sharing her story from Quezon City to Silicon Valley and how creative technology has gotten her there. She is the woman behind Facebook Safety Check, the ingenious Facebook feature that notifies friends in times of calamities.

The Design Gurus panel was next with the country’s leading digital experts sharing their insights on digital’s role, the type of people they’re looking for to work with their teams, and ultimately how creativity plays in the success of digital marketing. Moderated by award-winning Leigh Reyes of MullenLowe PH, the panel consisted of:

  • Donald Lim, Dentsu Aegis Network
  • Joey Tiempo, Nuworks / Octopus & Whale
  • Ed Mapa, Entropia

In the afternoon, the lineup was led by Budjette Tan, Lego Group Creative Director and the author of soon-to-be Netflix anime, “Trese”. His presentation felt like it came straight from the pages of a book because of the way it was written, with excerpts from his short stories, the origin of “Trese” and the impact of storytelling: “Find the extraordinary stories in ordinary objects.”

Facebook China ECD, Kitty Lun, took the stage by storm with her presentation on “building ideas that thrive in a connected world” and the 4 pillars that will make your ideas fly:

  • Curation
  • Community
  • Conversation
  • Commerce

Ad industry icon Mon Jimenez left the room in awe and an even stronger desire to create as he delivered a powerful speech on the true purpose behind creativity, “A man who tells lies has it easy and is NOT creative – the man who tells the truth doesn’t have it easy, but that’s where creativity lives.”

Another stunning presentation that left many mouths in the room agape was the pair that came all the way from Japan – Ryosuke Sakaki & Takashi Koyama of dentsu Tokyo – with the “Open Meals” project. A project that aims to connect people all around the world with food, digitalized 3D food to be exact. With state-of-the-art technology, their team is looking to bring edible 3D sushi to Tokyo in 2020: “the new role of creative agencies is to CREATE THE FUTURE.”

From the future of food to the future of storytelling – the last presentation of the day truly ended the evening on a powerful note by stressing the importance of real and authentic storytelling to the ever-growing body of content avaiable online:

  • Pepe Diokno, Straightshooters
  • Borge Torre, Makina
  • Stephen Douglas, Pixelbox
  • Julo de Guzman and Edsel Uy, The Perea Streetboys

The evening was capped off with the Kidlat Awards 2019 honoring the country’s best in advertising and creativity! Read about the big winners of the night here
