ASIA-PACIFIC – KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, JUNE 2011 – Dato’ Borhanuddin Osman has been elected for a record-setting eighth term as President of Commercial Radio of Malaysia (CRM). CRM is the representative association of 19 Malaysian commercial radio operators.

The other elected key posts are BFM’s Malek Ali as Vice President, Best 104’s Tuan Haji Bakhtiar Haji Arshad  as Secretary, and Media Prima’s Seelan Paul as Treasurer. Borhan, who is also the Executive Director of AMP, has held the President’s post since 2004.

“Our growth as an industry is largely due to the commitment and single voice of our members,” says Borhan. “The future of radio is closely aligned to integration across multiple platforms. This is an exciting phase as radio transforms itself as a medium on the go.”

Last year, CRM introduced Boot Camp, a two-day workshop to enlighten creative and media agencies on the merits of thinking outside the box and creating innovative campaigns capable to achieving the desired results.

Planet Radio, an event targeting tertiary students, set a new record last year with students from 14 universities attending a seminar focusing on career opportunities in radio. The other mainstay events were Radio Day and Radio Fest, the latter a fun-filled event to thank radio fans for their continued support. Radio Fest was held for the first time in Johor Baru last year.

CRM’s goals for this year include working collaboratively with the relevant government ministries on regulatory issues, strengthening radio’s audience base, and providing advertisers with an enriched platform through its integrated extensions.
