JAPAN – Dentsu Inc Tokyo will be merging two of its subsidiaries, Dentsu Young & Rubicam (DY&R) and Wunderman Dentsu (WD) to form a new group starting January 1, 2016.
The group is expected to be rebranded as Dentsu Young & Rubicam/Wunderman but an official statement clarified that it has yet to be finalized.
“This merger will lead to integrated communication design with a focus on branding, the provision of data-driven services with an increased competitive edge, and the creation of new value,” it added.
DY&R, currently headed by Yoichi Inose, is a brand agency that was established in November 1981 as a joint venture between Dentsu Inc. and Young & Rubicam of the United States. WD, led by Kensuke Noguchi, is a specialist direct marketing agency that was established as a joint venture in March 1985 between Dentsu and Y&R, and has expanded business in the CRM field.
The statement furthered that Inose with tentatively lead Dentsu Young & Rubicam/Wunderman as president & CEO.
