SINGAPORE – Discovery Networks International (DNI) has appointed Arthur Bastings as the new president and managing director for Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific (DNAP), effective on September.

He replaces Discovery’s president for Latin America Henry Martinez, the interim APAC head in place of Arjan Hoekstra, who left DNI last February.

Based in Singapore, Bastings will be reporting to Jean-Briac Perrette, president of DNI, and will be responsible for setting the regional strategy and maximising the potential of DNAP’s business and workforce. In addition, he will be working with with Peter Hutton, CEO of Eurosport, to beef up DNAP’s sports offering.

Bastings joins DNAP from Millicom, an international telecommunications and media company. He brings over 20 years’ experience working in the TV and media business, which includes working in DNI previously as Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) managing director five years ago.

“The Asia Pacific region encompasses two thirds of the world’s population and thus represents one of the biggest growth opportunities for our company. Bastings has a remarkable combination of experience in Asia, strong strategic thinking, and a proven track record of growth and building strong teams,” said Perrette.
