Terras Gauda brings together Art and Wine in the International Biennial Poster Design – Francisco MantecoĢn Competition, which in its 14th edition has recognized the creativity and originality of graphic artists from Estonia, United States, Russia, Netherlands and Israel. Eva Unt and Margus Tammik, from the UNT/TAMMIK design studio (Tallinn), are the creators of the 1st Prize work, which also received ā¬10,000 in prize money.
From Florida, American artist Remi Jeffrey-Coker has won one of the coveted awards. Moscow native and university professor Andrey Logvin, with more than 30 awards in international competitions, has also been recognized by the panel of judges, as have illustrator Bjorn Nelissen (Netherlands) and Israeli artist Guil Fridman. Altogether, the winery awarded ā¬17,000 in prizes.
1,435 posters from 66 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America and Oceania participated in 2019. Univerisities in Shanghai and Roma have endorsed the competition with the participation of Fine Arts professors and their respective groups of students. They are accompanied by entries from Bauhaus Universitat Weimar, and the U.S. schools SCAD Savannah, the University of San Francisco and New York Academies of Art in different editions.
Javier JaeĢn, who has worked for The New York Times, The Washington Post and Harvard University, and Diego Areso, Art Director of El PaiĢs and PaiĢs Semanal, are two of the professionals who served on the panel of judges for this edition.
More than 18,000 works from designers of 100 different nationalities have taken part in these 14 editions, demonstrating the dimensions this Biennial has achieved in the international creative community, with support from distinguished professional groups and prestigious associations like the AIGA (USA), Artnagrada (Russia), Latin American Design Association (ALADI), Chartered Society of Designers (United Kingdom) and the Swedish Association for Design and Advertising.
The forty finalists in the Biennial competition, among them the award winners, are entering phase two in a restricted competition convened by the Galician Tourism Board in conjunction with Terras Gauda. The aim: to design posters to promote the 9th and 10th Open Doors Sessions for Galician wine routes. Each of the two awards comes with a ā¬5,000 cash prize.
