KUALA LUMPUR – Video-on-demand startup iflix will be using the online video platform of Vimond Media Solutions, under a partnership announced last week.

Based in Norway, Vimond will be providing content management, asset preparation and distribution, CDN (Content Delivery Network), DRM (Digital Rights Management), player technology, and subscription and monetization capabilities.

Here’s a video of Ash Crick, CTO of iflix, explaining why they picked Vimond as partner.

Iflux is scheduled to debut in Southeast Asia within the second quarter of 2015, initially in Malaysia and the Philippines. It will then continue to launch in key markets in the region, including Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand.

In order to support iflix, Vimond said that it will establish a regional operations centre within the company’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

Mark Britt, CEO of iflix, said that the partnership fit hand-in-glove, with Vimond helping  iflix since day one.

“Given the wealth of content and cultures in the Southeast Asian market, we needed a strong partner that would seamlessly be able to handle multiple content ingest points and multiple distribution points in several languages and formats. We found everything we were looking for in Vimond and are very excited to be working with a true expert in the field that relates to its customers at a peer level and not as a traditional vendor”
