JWT/XM Singapore young creatives to sharpen claws at Cannes and Spikes

ASIA-PACIFIC – SINGAPORE, APRIL 2011— Cannes-bound young creatives, meet two of your Singaporean counterparts. JWT Singapore creative Karan Dang and XM-Asia creative Celeste Ang will be one of two teams who will be representing Singapore in the Young Creatives Competitions at both the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival in June and Spikes Asia in September this year. The announcement was made following the teams’ win in the MediaCorp Young Creatives Competition, print category.
 
After a decision that involved a stiff selection process with a shortlist of 22 teams, Karan and Celeste were chosen as MediaCorp’s Young Creative winning team in the print category for their campaign for UN Women.
 
The competition gave teams 48 hours to conceptualize and design an ad campaign for client The Singapore National Committee for UN Women, to educate the public about sex trafficking of young women and children in Singapore and around the region. The final portfolios were judged on March 22 by a panel of prominent players in the local ad industry. An award show was held on April 7 when the winning teams in the print and film categories were announced.
 
The pair have never worked together before, but the enthusiasm and determination of this duo has won them an all expenses paid trip to Cannes Advertising Festival in France and a spot at Spikes Asia in Singapore where they will compete with teams from around the world to crack a creative brief which will be judged by the festival juries.

The winning teams will definitely find it a rewarding and enriching experience in competing with their international peers in both the Cannes Young Lions and Young Spikes competitions.”
 
Congratulating the winning duo, Guan Hin Tay, Regional ECD, JWT South East Asia said: “We are extremely proud of Karan and Celeste for beating out 22 teams to win this competition. This is a great demonstration of how the JWT/XM integrated model allows us to bring the best people together. We will be cheering them on as they embark on an opportunity of a lifetime in Cannes and Spikes.”
