Leo Burnett Chicago’s “Nintendo Labo – Make, Play, & Discover” ad won The YouTube Ad of the Year in the ‘Ad That Taught Me’ category.
The people voted and the results are in! Our “Nintendo Labo – Make, Play, & Discover” spot won Youtube Ad of the Year in the ‘Ad that Taught Me’ category.
A panel of judges from YouTube and the Webby Awards reviewed countless ads from the past year and narrowed down all of the choices to 42 finalists across seven categories: Deserves Best Picture, Taught Me, Has Six Appeal, Rewrites the Rules, Turns an Ad into Action, Makes Me Laugh, and Frees Your Inner Gamer. Voting was then opened to the public to choose their favorite ad for each.
The ‘#TheYouTubeAd That Taught Me’ category covered tutorials, how-tos, product reviews, or for any ad that left viewers with new information.
Filming the Nintendo ad required two directors working simultaneously—one director to create the whimsical stop-motion animation and trick shots, and the other capturing the Nintendo Labo kits in action with kids.
60 game sets,14,000+ folds, 750,000 crates of Labo products shipped, and 36,000+ frames of stop motion animation later, we’re proud to announce this exciting win.
