HONG KONG – Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE), operator of the largest bouquet of pan-Asian channels dedicated to Asian entertainment, announced today the renewal of its exclusive, multi-year output deals with renowned Hong Kong movie studio, Mega-Vision Project Workshop Limited (MVPW). The deal secures first and exclusive pay TV rights, as well as pay-per-view (PPV), video-on-demand (VOD) and over-the-top (OTT) rights to its upcoming slate of movies for CTE’s channels, Celestial Movies and cHK, in Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines.

“We are delighted to continue our strong partnership with Mega-Vision Project Workshop after these incredible years of working together,” said Ofanny Choi, Executive Vice President, TV Networks, Celestial Tiger Entertainment. “Every year, Mega-Vision Project Workshop offers our viewers a slate of big-production, critically-acclaimed movie hits. Together with our exclusive deals with other Hong Kong-based studios, our channels will continue to go from strength to strength and only provide the best for our viewers.”

Recent productions from MVPW include Chasing The Dragon, an epic gangland tale starring two superstars Donnie Yen and Andy Lau, which has already grossed over US$87 million in China. Upcoming productions include two more Donnie Yen films: Big Brother, an action-packed drama set in a school facing a crisis of being scuttled, co-produced with Wong Jing and directed by Kam Kar-wai; Enter the Fat Dragon, directed by Kenji Tanigaki, a Japan-set action feature, in which Yen acts as a 200-pound special agent.

Besides MVPW, CTE has the most exclusive output deals among Chinese movie channels in the region, including deals with renowned Hong Kong movie studios Distribution Workshop, Emperor Motion Pictures, Media Asia and Universe Entertainment.

With these five exclusive output deals, both Celestial Movies and cHK dominate their core markets in Southeast Asia. In Malaysia, CTE’s Chinese movie channels – Celestial Movies, Celestial Movies HD and Celestial Classic Movies – are the top three most-watched regional movie channels among Astro’s Chinese 4+ subscribers this year*.

In Singapore, among Singtel’s Chinese audience, cHK was the third most-watched channel among all pay TV channels this year**.
