KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – Following a year-long engagement in 2020, Nobu Kuala Lumpur has formally renewed its contract with GO Communications for another year, which will be in effect through the end of 2021.

The undertaking will see the agency continuing to bolster public relations and integrated communications support for Southeast Asia’s first Nobu restaurant – one of the world’s most recognised hospitality and F&B brands, famed for its contemporary Japanese cuisine infused with Latin American flavours.

Following the renewal, GO’s first order of business is to take charge of PR and marketing efforts leading up the opening and launch of the restaurant’s new and improved offering at Four Seasons Place Kuala Lumpur at the end of Q1, 2021.

“The decision to renew our contract with GO Communications came quite seamlessly, following our engagement throughout 2020, which was a markedly austere year for the hospitality and F&B industries. However, the GO team have shown themselves to be a strategic partner and an invaluable pillar of support, by journeying with us and helping us pivot through an unprecedented business climate with the implementation of strategic campaigns and initiatives to maintain the brand’s eminence,” said Gopi Kanala, General Manager of Nobu Kuala Lumpur

“As we look to upgrade and elevate our guests’ dining experience this year at our new location, we also look forward to working together with the GO team to chart further heights of success. The team’s professionalism, coupled with their original and creative ideas have been next to none. And so, we’re confident of doing great things together this year, which our guests can certainly look forward to,” he added.

In the wake of the various Movement Control Orders in the country which heavily impacted F&B establishments, Nobu Kuala Lumpur and GO Communications worked together on several initiatives throughout the year. Among these include a number of tactical promotions such as “Nobu at Home” – the establishment’s first ever delivery and take-away menu which allowed guests to experience Nobu’s world-renowned cuisine in the comfort of their own homes.

Nobu also rolled out several “For Two” promotions, with the aim of giving more guests the opportunity to savour specially curated menus at promotional rates. These include the “Omakase for Two” menu, among others. Nobu also paid tribute to medical frontliners in the country by treating them to a complimentary High Tea event at its premises.

Nobu’s highlight in 2020 was its Sake and Wine Pairing Omakase event which saw the fusion of Japanese and French cultures. To officiate the initiative, GO brought together The Head of Economic Section at the Japanese Embassy in Malaysia, Mr. Hideto Nakajima; and Trade Advisor in charge of Wines and Spirits of the French Embassy Trade Commission, Ms. Jun Lim. Like the menu’s name suggests, each of the seven courses on the specially curated menu were coupled with Nobu Kuala Lumpur’s finest selections of sake or wine. The pairing was masterfully executed by Executive Chef Philip Leong and the Nobu kitchen team to uncover different notes and flavours that cannot be experienced anywhere else.

To achieve additional mileage and traction, GO Communications was also instrumental in complementing Nobu’s promotions and campaigns with supporting digital initiatives and influencer campaigns.

“It certainly is exciting to see Nobu Kuala Lumpur through the challenges of 2020, and it has been a privilege and honour to work with one of the world’s most esteemed F&B brands, by harnessing the magic of PR and integrated communications to propel the brand forward. We are indeed humbled yet inspired with the renewal of our contract, and look forward to greater times ahead for Nobu Kuala Lumpur and building on our working relationship. As they move to their new location in the landmark Four Seasons, we are very excited with the possibilities that lie ahead,” said Peter de Kretser, Chief Executive Officer of GO Communications

Since 1994, Nobu has offered the unique experience of contemporary Japanese cuisine infused with Latin American flavours. Established in 2014, Nobu Kuala Lumpur presents an innovative culture to the already vibrant local F&B and dining scene.
