FRANCE – Holding up cardboard placards to cheer for your beloved team seem so dated compared to this interactive campaign from Qatar-based telco brand Ooredoo and French football club Paris Saint-Germain.
Called “Fans Do Wonders,” fans are encouraged to tweet their support for the team for a chance to have their messages posted on the the LED banners inside the Parc des Princes stadium, the home ground of Paris Saint-Germain.
A dedicated website presents all tweets from the campaign on a Cheer Wall for millions of people to see and even laid out on map showing countries with the most cheers together with a leaderboard.
An video staring five of Paris Saint-Germain’s most recognisable players – forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, defenders Thiago Silva and David Luiz, and midfielders Blaise Matuidi and Lucas Moura, shows how the banners will look like in action.
The people who send the best messages will win a trip to Paris to watch a match and attend a training session. As a bonus, top messages will also be displayed on the stadium’s boards during several games.
With plans to reach out to football fans across its markets in the MENA region and Southeast Asia, Ooredoo is planning to have local editions of the campaign featuring, though the company did say if it will be limited to just football.
