Quiogue also served as GroupM CEO from March 22, 2010 to January 31, 2013, staying on as consultant up to April 30, 2013. Most recently, he took the reins at Solar Entertainment Corp. as chief commercial officer, joining Maria Theresa “Mitos” Borromeo who came on board at Solar Entertainment as chief operating officer.

Quiogue excelled as a leader and was looked up to by his colleagues and peers, having garnered a deserved reputation for the quality of his work. He is known far and wide as someone who, thanks to his unmatched contributions to the industry, has made an indelible mark on it, and has been an inspiration to many in the course of his work.

Mark Patterson, CEO, GroupM Asia Pacific, said:

"A very sad day for all of us in the Philippines , the region and beyond

A one off , a wonderful professional and personal colleague , friend , mentor and inspiration for us all.

We thank you and love you Meckoy.

We miss you but know you will still watch and guide us."

Mitos Borromeo shares, "I worked with [Meckoy] when he was with GMA and I was running Mindshare. I found him to be very fair in all our negotiations. I respected him a lot. He was also a friend of my father, so I also treated him as some sort of favorite uncle. When I was still CEO of GroupM, I hired him as our consultant on new biz development, When I resigned, the region asked him to take over my job…

"I was excited to work with him at Solar. It was my idea that we partner together. We talked about it over dinner and agreed that we would do the job together. Your adobo headline said it all – "Ex GroupM CEOs join Solar". With his passing, I feel bereft. Not only will I be deprived of an exciting partnership, but I have lost a friend. And the industry has lost a mentor. There will never be another Meckoy. But we can all hope to emulate him."

adobo Magazine extends its most sincere condolences to the family of Meckoy Quiogue.
