PREVIEW: Cannes Lions 2017 kicks off today with talks and Lions Health awards

CANNES — The week-long Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity starts today and lasts up to June 24, 2017. Dubbed the “Olympics of advertising”, the Festival will honor the best ads produced throughout the world as well as provide insightful talks from the best advertising agencies, technology companies, global brands and companies, athletes and celebrities, as well as other influential people from the fields of communications, marketing, entertainment, design, and tech. 

Cannes Lions 2017 will kick off today with a focus on Lions Health which gives recognition to campaigns which inject creativity into healthcare communications. The much-awaited talks at the Festival this year will also kick off with ‘The Economics of Creativity’ hosted by McKinsey’s Jason Heller who will present a new study that proves creativity does drive business success. It will be held at the Debussy Theater at 10:00AM (4:00PM, PHL time) and streamed live on Lions Live here.

Another talk to watch out in today’s programme is ‘Why Are We Creative’ hosted by Emotional Network and featuring speakers Joe Pytka, Lion of St. Marks Award winner and the most award-winning commercial director in Cannes, Emotional Networks’s Hermann Vaske, and Jürgen and Jan Knauss, Chief Creative Officers of the +Knauss Idea Agency. This takes place at the Debussy Theatre at 2:00PM (8:00PM, PHL time) and streamed live on Lions Live here.

Day 1 ends with the Awards Show where the best entries under the Pharma, Health & Wellness, Healthcare Agency, and Healthcare Network of the year stand to win Lions metals and the coveted Grand Prix.
