Singapore’s Filmat36 (S) Pte Ltd partners with Korea Fishing Channel (FTV) to co-produce documentary series “URBAN WATER CHALLENGE”

SINGAPORE – Singapore-based production company Filmat36 (S) Pte Ltd will be signing an agreement with the Korean network FTV for the documentary series co-production Urban Water Challenge on Thursday, 6 December 2018 at Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) 2018. This is the first co-production between the two teams.

The series is slated to premiere in the third quarter of 2019, coupled with the launch of a mobile application. It will be presented in two parts, each lasting one hour, in HD and 4K format. The treatment will feature stunning graphics, slow-motion footage and animation.

Crossing borders to explore water problems and solutions, Urban Water Challenge seeks to bring out the severity of water scarcity problems around the world, even in developed countries like Singapore and South Korea, and in doing so, motivate viewers to change their mindsets and lifestyles so as to conserve water.

Humanity needs water to survive – even the most modern of cities aren’t spared from this dilemma. By 2050, more than 50 countries in the world will face water shortage. The series will showcase the hope that we have in various technological innovations around the world, all of which with great potential in drawing us closer to water sustainability.

Filmat36 and FTV started brainstorming on a co-production during Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) 2017. Pleasant correspondence between the two teams eventually culminated in a meeting, which confirmed the subject on environmental, history and innovation technology. Following the signing of the Non-Disclosure Agreement, both teams commenced Research & Development to turn their ideas into reality. The total budget of the project comes up to USD300,000, with both parties having an equal share (50-50).

Filmat36 is also taking an ambitious leap out from the traditional broadcast zone by extending beyond TV content to develop a mobile application which includes information, tips, rewards, games etc. The first phase’s budget alone is expected to be close to USD80,000.

As the first collaboration with a Korean partner, this is an exciting venture for Filmat36 and it has proven to be a wonderful experience as both teams share a common vision.
