Ang saya ng feeling. We went through 10 months to be here tapos kumbaga lahat ng hirap namin, lahat ng homeworks na ginawa namin sa Raw School came to fruition when we won Gold here.”

Translation: We feel so happy. We went through 10 months just to be here. All our hard work – all the homeworks we did in Raw School – came to fruition when we won Gold here.

The Young Spikes Integrated Competition was an exciting two-day challenge that gave participants the chance to gain recognition within the industry and make their mark across the Asia Pacific.

Each team produced a PowerPoint presentation summarizing their campaign, including how it would be launched and executed.

A minimum of three media channels were used within the campaign (one social media network is considered as one media channel), including at least one piece of supporting material within the 10 slide presentation.

The pair created an integrated campaign in response to a brief set by non-profit organization World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The gentlemen were asked to come up with a campaign that will help Food and Beverage retailers solve food wastage in their stores by at least 50%.

Gonzalez and Jose revealed that they came up with an app called “Refresh” which acts as a ‘Virtual Refrigerator’. According to the pair, Refresh is a virtual refrigerator that lets you manage your actual refrigerator at home and make fresh ingredients available whenever you need them.

When they heard the brief, the pair shared that they were so pumped to help solve the issue. Gonzalez opines, “Nung narinig namin yung brief, we know na parang ‘Okay, we want to have fun with this brief and try to create a solution for it.’”

Translation: When we heard the brief, we told ourselves, ‘Okay, we want to have fun doing with the brief and try to create a solution for it.’

When asked on their key takeaways, Jose says, “Always have fun. Keep it simple. Kung masaya ka sa idea mo, okay ka na don, panalo ka na doon.”

Translation: Always have fun. Keep it simple. If you are happy with your idea, then you won already.

The duo was awarded Gold medals at the Spikes Asia Awards Ceremony. They will also receive full delegate passes to Spikes Asia 2019.
