JAPAN – Global sports brand Quiksilver and TBWA\Hakuhodo are introducing a new wetsuit in Japan even James Bond will be proud of.
Hitting the market on Monday is Quiksilver’s “True Wetsuit” – a modern two-piece business suit, complete with crisp button down, slacks and a tie, that can incredibly double as a wetsuit.
The idea is to help Japanese businessmen who are notoriously workaholics to regain work/surf balance. And for Quiksilver, that means heading straight from boardroom to the beach at the quickest time possible.
It can easily pass as an April fool’s prank but this beautifully made 2-minute spot from TBWA\Hakuhodo shows the True Wetsuits hitting the waves. It’s great to know that at 300,000 yen a piece, this made-to-order suit seems to look and work the part.
According to a statement, the jacket and pants are made from 2mm super high-stretch jersey neoprene, and the shirt is made with ‘Dryflight’, a fabric developed by Quiksilver and 3M for superior water repellency.
Here is another video showing how this novel wetsuits are made.
