ASIA-PACIFIC – SHANGHAI, CHINA, JULY 22, 2011 – TEQUILA, TBWA’s digital specialist brand, continues to strengthen its core capabilities with two new hires.

Dwayne Koh, who previously worked with Wieden + Kennedy, Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy Beijing and AKQA in both Singapore and China, will join TEQUILA as Group Creative Director – a role that covers both traditional and digital advertising. In bringing integrated ideas to the table, and harnessing the power of Disruption and Media Arts for clients, Koh will help consumers to champion brands that are unleashed in the competitive China market.

“It’s a pleasure to join a group with a great history and heritage for creativity. The bonus for me is the opportunity to work with familiar faces that I trust and depend upon to get great work through,” said Koh. “It’s exciting for me to be playing a dual role that bridges the gap between traditional advertising and new media. This re-emphasizes to clients that it is the idea that is first and foremost; not the medium used to execute it.”

Along with Koh, Kaki Law will join the team as Digital Experience Strategy Director, bringing interactive expertise on user experience design for websites, web platforms, mobile applications, interactive TV and portable multimedia players. Law has led digital teams and managed interactive designers from initial market research to final design production. Having graduated from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University, one of the top digital programs in the world, Law brings strong interaction design experience from the world’s digital centre to a booming digital market in China and will strengthen TEQUILA’s capabilities in the market.

Law commented, “I am very excited about moving to Shanghai and joining TBWA. There are so many opportunities in China right now. With such a strong team in place, we will be helping our clients to create world-class digital solutions that are specific to the Chinese audience.” Law added, “TBWA already has a strong understanding of the market in China; I am just adding the interaction design piece.”

Scarlett Lok, Head of Digital for TBWA\TEQUILA in Shanghai, sees that Koh and Law’s key strengths lie in understanding how the agency can creatively deliver its messaging: “With their combined experience in delivering digital solutions for clients, it will be great to have them on board to show our clients how a disruptive idea can reach and engage with their consumers on every touch point.”

Ian Thubron, Group President of TBWA\Greater China, commented, "TEQUILA is not a siloed, stand-alone entity, but a defined and integrated offering within the TBWA group, guiding brand behaviour in the online space. The trinity of Scarlett, Dwayne and Kaki will create a ‘best-in-class’ offering in the market and I’m confident we can take on anyone stand-alone shop, or siloed business unit, and win – hands down.”
