ADFEST has unveiled three additional workshops that will be taking part during this year’s Craft@ADFEST and Creative@ADFEST streams from 22nd to 23rd March.

“It’s part of our manifesto at ADFEST to continually nurture and grow the skills of people who attend our festival. This year, we’ve collated a high caliber panel of professionals, who will share practical industry experience with our delegates to help them forge ahead in their careers,” says Jimmy Lam, President of ADFEST.

ADFEST 2018 is divided into two streams: whereas Craft@ADFEST (21 – 22 March) is dedicated to production, digital, and technology trends involving VR, production, sound and VFX, Creative@ADFEST (23 – 24 March) is focused on pushing the boundaries of the creative and communication industry.

The next workshops to be announced are:

How to Make Music Decisions for Advertising
Christian Mix-Linzer, Chief Executive Officer, Tracks & Fields, Berlin
Thursday 22 March, 10.45 – 11.45 am

In order to make more objective music decisions, the team at Tracks & Fields has developed their own simple but effective tools, which they will share with ADFEST 2018 participants. In an interactive case study, participants will have the chance to apply these tools to a real-life project, which collected multiple awards for music at international advertising festivals. They’ll be guided through the entire music process, from brand ID, target audience, campaign idea and the agency briefing, before seeing how these tools took the project in a completely different direction. This workshop is led by Christian Mix-Linzer, who founded Tracks & Fields in 2008, a company that consults agencies, producers and brands on the use of music for audiovisual productions.

The Collage Experiment: Getting Your Hands Dirty to Spark Creative Ideas
Ithyle Griffiths, Director at Angela & Ithyle Inc. in Los Angeles
Friday 23 March, 10.45 – 11.45 am

Roll up your sleeves and get ready to unleash your creativity with Ithyle Griffiths, a film director, photographer, artist and musician who has shot films all over the world. Based in L.A., Griffiths is always striving to find new and exciting ways to be creative and to network and connect with other like-minded creatives. “Using found paper and magazines along with ink and glue with distinct instructions that all students will follow, each attendee will walk away with an individual art piece that is vastly different from each of their classmates while all following the exact same instructions,” he explains.

ADFEST + D&AD WORKSHOP: D&AD Award Winners – Themes of Today and Predictions for the Future
Tim Lindsay, CEO of D&AD (London)
Friday 23 March, 2.30 – 5.30 pm

From what it is to be human to today’s fractured society and rapidly changing communications landscape, D&AD’s Tim Lindsay takes a deep dive into the macro trends of 2017’s D&AD winners. Lindsay has spent 40 years in advertising as joint managing director of BBH; managing director of Y&R London; CEO, then European President, then Worldwide President of Lowe Howard-Spink/Lowe Lintas/Lowe Worldwide; Chairman of Publicis UK and President of TBWA\UK and Ireland.
