MANILA, PHILIPPINES – As the idea of “essential travel” becomes more and more relevant to everyday life, AirAsia Chief Operations Officer Javed Malik shares what the AirAsia is working towards, including new guidelines and processes.

According to Malik, there will be new measures both in- and pre-flight. Pre-flight changes include temperature screenings at checkpoints, social distancing markers, the use of contactless technology, and of course, hand sanitizers at all processing points.

All guests will be required to bring and wear their owns masks before boarding, during the flight, and at baggage claim.

Baggage guidelines will also change, as only one small carry-on bag or laptop will be accepted for each guest.

Guests will also be recommended to arrive three hours before departure.

“We’d advise our guests to check their travel eligibility as the very first step. Different countries are imposing different regulations, so do check with your local respective governments on travel restrictions,” Malik said.

“Air travel is one of the safest modes of travel, especially with the deep cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfection that our aircraft and its cabin go through daily. Just ensure that you adhere to recommended global safety precautions such as wearing masks at all times, sanitize your hands and keep your social distance.”
