Globe Tattoo and Global Shapers Manila Hub launch C@talyst CSR initiative

MANILA, MAY 6, 2013 Globe Tattoo and the Global Shapers Manila Hub have partnered to launch C@talyst, a Tattoo-branded corporate social responsibility initiative.

C@atalyst aims to inspire the youth to serve as a ‘catalyst’ for change – to cause a chain reaction of positive actions, powered by modern technology, to bring about true changes in society and significantly contribute, for instance, to efforts to manage such pressing problems as air pollution, crime and traffic.

The Global Shapers Manila Hub is made up of young individuals, including Tattoo ambassador Bianca Gonzalez, Save Philippine Seas co-founder Anna Oposa, and Mano Amiga Academy co-founder Lynn Pinugu, all of whom, despite their youth, display excellent potential for leadership roles in society. This organization is part of the Global Shapers community, itself a global program of the World Economic Forum.

C@talyst’s first project is to organize a youth challenge, with the Global Shapers mentoring youth participants. From May 2 to 31, Filipino citizens aged 18-30 can submit one-minute video proposals that are to be winnowed based on impact, implementation feasibility and innovation. Application forms can be downloaded from the Globe C@talyst website. 15 are to be shortlisted and five winners will be selected in June and awarded a PhP200,000 cash grant aimed at helping develop these selected programs and cover ICT support and mentorship.

Dong Ronquillo, head of Tattoo Nomadic Broadband Business, said that Tattoo was in search of a realistic solution with an ICT component and which could be replicated in other communities. He added that the partners were looking to connect with young people who had a genuine desire to help.
