LONDON – Cheil London has been appointed as the Women’s Equality Party’s lead creative agency without a pitch.

Cheil has worked with the Women’s Equality Party (WE) since February 2016 when Oystercatchers launched an initiative to build innovative campaigns for the party, supported by several agency figures.

Since then Cheil London has created one of a kind campaigns for the party, including “#WEcount” which highlighted the rise in rape and sexual violence against women in London, and a series of films supporting the party’s candidate for London Mayor. The agency is set to support the party at its conference at the end of this month and will launch another initiative in early 2017.

WEP was founded by Sandi Toksvig and Catherine Mayer at the Women of the World Festival in 2015. WEP now has over 70 branches and 65,000 members and supporters.

Catherine Riley, Head of Communications at WEP, said: “We are all really impressed and grateful for the support we have received and will continue to receive from Cheil London. Their involvement makes a huge difference to how WE can be seen and heard”.

Cat Davis, Chief Growth Officer of Cheil London, said: “We are delighted to work with WE. We believe in the cause, are passionate about the team and are completely invested in helping the party grow”.

“#WEcount” invited women to write the postcode of a place where they had experienced sexual assault on their hand and share it via social media and anonymously mark the spot on a specially created Google map.

#WEcount was trending within hours of going live and, since the campaign launched in March, women from all over the UK and around the world made their mark on the interactive map – with 130 pins being placed a day and over 900,000 visits since it went live.
