CHINA – Yi Li has been named OgilvyOne’s first Chief Data Officer in China, effective immediately. Riding on the back of the agency having recently been named a partner of Alimama, the Big Data unit of Alibaba, the new appointment underscores the agency’s position at the forefront of China’s Data frontier.

“China currently houses a lot of information, more than 13% of all the data in the world,” says Yi Li. “This is OgilvyOne’s opportunity to harness it and help clients cut through all the complexity and flux. By combining our client’s own resources with Big Data, we will be able to help brands identify moments of truths along the customer journey, delivering a better customer experience and higher sales.”

Packing 15 years of experience under her belt, Yi has a diversified background that extends across CRM, consumer insight and computer science in the US and China. Formerly the Consulting Director for Data & Insight, Yi has been at the vanguard of OgilvyOne’s Data product development and will lead teams in both Beijing and Shanghai.

This year has already seen OgilvyOne exhibit a strong competence in Data that distinguishes it from the pack. In addition to being one of the few selected partners to work with the Alimama team on their platform, OgilvyOne has driven a series of campaigns that harness and deepen customer engagement, using data to create real- time interactive services for clients like Caterpillar and IBM.

OgilvyOne was also named a leader amongst all digital agencies by Forrester Research this year in its independent report “The Forrester WaveTM: Digital Agencies in China – Strategy and Execution, Q1 2015,” highlighted specifically for “high levels of competence across all major criteria.”

“With Yi we have found a strong expert to lead further investment in our Data capabilities,” says Jacco ter Schegget, President of OgilvyOne China. “We have seen good growth in our data offering over the last year, and have forged successful partnerships with the likes of Alibaba and UnionPay. Yi has been building this current team, and is ready for the next phase of this exciting journey.”
